There’s no solution to world challenges without India: German Envoy to India

Vinay Express News, New Delhi. To support India’s fight against Climate Change, Germany on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, announced new commitments worth €1.3 billion to India. Taking to Twitter, the German Ambassador to India said, “Support for development & fight against climate change are a center stone of Germany-India relations. Germany just made new commitments for 2022 of 1.3 billion € today! Together we’ll achieve cleaner energy, more sustainable cities, and better protection of natural resources.”

Addressing a briefing at German Embassy, the German Ambassador said, “We try to work together with India, and help in climate change, renewable energy, and similar projects, which also helps in working towards our own goals we promised at COP26 in Glasgow. All this is important and one can only do this together with India.”

The Ambassador said that climate change has become one of the biggest world problems and without Indians, you cannot solve any big world challenges. He further emphasized that the fight against climate change is one of the cornerstones of India-Germany relations.
Addressing the presser further, Director General from the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Professor Dr. Claudia Warning highlighted 63 years of India-Germany cooperation.“India is the biggest development cooperation partner for Germany. The Indo-German cooperation is resting on four key megatrends- Climate Change, Urbanization, Degradation of natural resources and Pressure on democracy and society,” Dr. Warning said.

“Both countries have borne the brunt of climate change. More than 180 people lost their lives in Germany in July; 170 people died in Cyclone Tauktae in Western India,” Dr. Warning added. According to the reports, India and Germany together account for nearly 9 percent of global greenhouse gas. However, at the COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow, PM Modi announced that India would achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. Whereas on the other hand, Germany announces to reach its target of climate neutrality by 2045.

India-Germany Relations:

Bilateral relations between India and Germany are founded on common democratic principles and are marked by a high degree of trust and mutual respect. To further strengthen the Strategic Partnership between India and Germany regularly holds Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) at the level of Head of Governments. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India is amongst a select group of countries with which Germany has such high-level Consultations.
